| K-Dans Bagay Yo Chanje CD review Casino starts off with a Jazzy tempo and within the first 90 seconds, they pick up the speed by putting the emphasis on Didi, though the cords he used while popular, is not spectacular. Unfortunately, in the middle of the songs, they used lyrics and groove similar to 509’s fake. Move Chwa reveals itself to be a hit from the start, with an introduction similar to Lanmou ou lamitye (fruit defendu, K-Dans). Otherwise, the melody is nice, and fans will have plenty of opportunities to Danse Ploge during live performances. The bass line is very tight, matched with some nice keyboard solos. As soon as Internet Inconnu.com begins, Carimi came to mind; from the choice of words to the the guitar grooves. In the middle of the song, Jude is shouting words like (situation sa rann mwen fou, pa kapab anko), just like the lead singer of Kepopoz in their the middle of their hit song What’s the Deal, and this is followed by a very nice keyboard solo imitated from Micky’s old days (Ke’m sere live, Nou 2 live). Mon Cher Papa was very "monotone" until the guitarist took over, but only for a few seconds; however the keyboardist picked up where Didi left off with solos that reminds you of K-Dans when they were at their prime. In Give it Up, Jude reminds us of the flexibility of his voice, and his versatility as a singer. Even in English he was able to sing flawless. Again, 509’s fake had to have a great influence and impression on the K-Dans crew. Destiny is a mellow kind of song which is a typical K-Dans song, but more groovy. I was indifferent to the next song Verite, until Didi pleased my tympanic membrane with some soft but persistent grooves. In Coraline, as a prelude to the last song on the CD, K-Dans increases the tempo, backed with some excellent guitar licks, which to my opinion are not exploited to the extent I wish. The breaks I predict will be exploited much more during live performances. In Bagay Yo Chanje, K-Dans’ is attemping to market itself to the public through the lyrics. At the 2:42 mn mark, the keynotes used are very similar to those used by Reynaldo in PARTY BY THE Sea (Wyclef/TVice/Buju Banton), and later, Jude shouted the name of their albums one by one, like T-Vice did with their recent CD. In no way will I underestimate the talent of K-Dans musicians as they have already proven themselves to the public and those who appreciate excellent music, however I do not feel that this CD will bring them the new “break” they are looking for to get by the main audience. Didi’s addition will probably be more effective during live performances, however I did not notice any trademark or marquee licks/groove that I could only associate with Didi. Hopefully marketing will be in full effect to bring KDans to the forefront as I believe this album by itself will not do the job. Maybe with time, it will grow on the fans. Haitimizik |
