Nu-Vice,
Pale Ave'm
This band is one of the hottest now in the HMI. After leaving Sweet Micky,
Robert Martino decided to go back with his old band top vice which he is one
of the founding members. Unfortunately, they had some problems with former
lead singer Freddy so he got kicked out and was replaced by a much younger
more dynamic singer called Herly  Jacques a.k.a. baby face. With the release
of their new album “pale avem” the band is reappearing as one of the top
bands in the business.

1.        Men champion an: the first song on the album which basically
introduces their return with the new singer and new vibes. This song doesn’t
really have a specific point there’s not that much to say about it. In the
beginning and all through the song Robert’s solo is the dominant sound of the
song. Nothing amazing but it’s well organized and not monotone so good job.

2.        Happy birthday: as the title says it this song is a birthday song.
Charlot teams up with “Vero” I guess an artist from the Caribbean with an
extraordinary voice very catchy and coordinated with charlot it’s really nice.
Like a lot of bands, they added a little rap part in the song that kind of
changed the paste. As we all know the songs charlot sing have a little r n b
mood in them specially his voice so overall very nice song nice beat bon
travail.

3.        Voyem ale: the very beginning of this song looks a lot like the r n b
song “yeah” by usher but changes into something else. Well this song lyric
wise is really boring it’s like they didn’t have anything to talk about and they
put those lyrics on a very nice song. I think that this song could have been
wayyyyy nicer considering the sequence, solos (both guitar and keyboard
ones) It could have been of better use.

4.        Pale avem: the title of the album: one of my favorites on this album,
compare to the previous track the lyrics to this one are really good and make
some sense the guy is asking the girl to talk to him not to leave let’s try to
fix things between us. Robert charlot starts with a nice solo that goes with a
background quire. For some reason this song reminds of t-vice at some point
specially the breaks. Robert Martino kills at the end with his magic touch on
the guitar. Very nice song.

5.        Haiti: This song is about Haiti as the title says it. Basically this song
talks about how the country was a few years ago how everything was so
good and now it’s the total opposite where there is fighting and the country is
divided so he really misses the country and wants things to change like most
of us. Herly is really good in that song, his voice is really smooth and catchy
li few anvi koutel. Charlot adds two nice solos in that song followed by some
breaks matching the solo. And of course the legend depoze nan mizik la
korekteman he kills with a solo in the middle and the end of the song. This
song is very nice text, melody, sequencing etcc good job.

6.        M’sousa: Min mizik la!!!!! This song is amazing I can’t find the words.
It starts off with a girl’s voice and a break comes in followed by a sequence
with the keys. Charlot sings this song and he’s telling this girl how he’s in
the mood for her and putting some details in it. This song has an rnb type of
beat which goes really slow and the kick in it is very nice. As predicted the
legend not only kills with the accompanying but his solo se sa net. Shortly
after Charlot brings his touch to it adding a very nice but simple solo. This
song is a sleeper on this album it promises a lot.

7.        Brasser nap brasser: This song inspired by a very popular and famous
slogan used in the Haitian communities called “brasser” which that you are
surviving or hanging in there trying to survive. Throughout the whole song
that’s the main thing you hear tout moun ap brasser yap chache lavi. This
song has almost the same theme as biznis pam from djakout. In the middle
Charlot put a guitar type of solo done with the keyboard ( this is done by
most Haitian bands now with an instrument called the XV) it gives a sound
almost similar to the guitar ones. Despite of that Robert added his magic
touch on the guitar to make the difference. This song has a dance for it also
which they show in the video nice song guaranteed to hype up a crowd.

8.        La musique c’est ma vie: “Music is my life” very nice lyrics and
vocals this kid can sing. This song talk about music in general as a stress
reliever and a hobby for him that’s what he does for a living so let him do it
in peace. This song has a nice guitar solo very smooth the solo is very nice
also. Like most bands did there is a little rap sequence which is very nice.
Overall nice song, lyrics, grooves, good conception.

9.        Nou nan zone nan: Another hype type of song I realized that these
songs are really based on grooves and solos the lyrics are not that important
because they really care about making the people dance and jump. This is
the case for this song the lyrics are really poor but the grooves and solos
take for it (telman yo bon) charlot does most of it because you can hear more
solos of him than of Robert. Very nice and catchy song it ca get you in the
mood, well done.

10.        Call me: This song is almost like the internet song of k-dans but this
one the girl is not picking up his phone calls anymore for some reason. He’s
trying to understand why asking himself questions was it a fake number or
did he get it wrong. Robert takes over in the middle of the song to please us
with what they call the “Gro Kod” on the guitar and a little Santana groove at
the end. The breaks in this song look alike like the ones used by Reynaldo if
not the same. There is a little rap sequence in that song also which comes
during two parts of the song.

11.        Tattoo girl: The name of the song says it all. Nowadays most girls
have a tattoo and basically this song states how all these girls are causing
troubles with their tattoos depending on where they put them especially
when it’s hot and they show a lot of skin. Robert dominates this song from
beginning to the end with his solos. Charlot adds a little flavor to it but
Robert does most of the work. Overall that’s the main point in the song
nothing really special

12.        Ambiance Podium: I consider this song as a bonus track on this
album because it’s medley of a series of songs that they put together to
make this song. This song is Robert’s song all the solos of his he kills in it.
The first time I heard that song I noticed that some of the solos I already
heard when Robert was in micky that’s when I realized that it was a medley
it’s really nice and is another guarantee to animate a crowd during a live
performance.

Wow what I can say about this band and the new album. It is very obvious
that the changes were for the better because the band is stronger than ever
and is proving itself as a heavyweight in the business. I am very satisfied
with the album and with good a promotion team things should be good for
them in the long run. Congratulations to the Nu-Vice crew keep it up you
guys have my support.
